I’ve had a personal web site in one form or another (and in myriad states of upkeep) since GeoCities was popular back in the 90s. (I had an “Under Construction” graphic and even used the <blink> tag. *shudder*) From that humble beginning, I eventually bought a domain, did my own half-decent web designs now and then, and occasionally even updated the content of my site.

The most recent incarnation prior to this one was version four, which utilized Wordpress and hasn’t been updated since 2006. Earlier this year, I felt the itch to start musing again on the internet so I could pretend that people would be interested in what I have to say. Version five was to be a new theme on the same back-end. However, I never particularly liked Wordpress, so I decided to switch to Textpattern and redo the theme because I didn’t like where my original idea was headed. And since I like versioning everything (by personality and formerly trade as well), this iteration has been deemed version five point one.

You’ll notice there isn’t any content from previous versions of the site. I’ve archived the old Wordpress database because I realized, after going back through some old posts, most aren’t interesting even to me anymore. And migrating articles from one CMS to another is a huge pita at best. So consider this a reboot that I hope to be an improvement over previous versions à la Star Trek. Live long and prosper.
